Peter Kauffmann a Hilltop partner who brings more than 25 years of experience in public affairs and public service to the firm. 

Over the course of his career, Peter has served at every level of politics and government. He has served as Press Secretary for Senator Hillary Clinton; Director of Communications for the Governor of New York; Senior Campaign Advisor for the New York Democratic Party; Deputy Press Secretary at the Democratic National Committee; and lead communications advisor for Priorities USA. 

At the height of the COVID pandemic in New York City, Peter served as Senior Advisor to the Mayor, managing day-to-day operations at City Hall for the duration of the crisis.

Following the September 11 terrorist attacks, Peter joined the United States Navy and spent five years on active duty as an Intelligence Officer. He deployed twice aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln, serving as collections manager for the strike group during tsunami relief operations in Indonesia. At the Joint Intelligence Center-Pacific, he was as a geopolitical analyst with a focus on the Pacific Rim region. 

Peter is Vice Chair of VoteVets, Treasurer of the VetVoice Foundation, a Truman National Security Project Fellow, and a member of the Queens Public Library Board of Trustees. A former college baseball player, he was head coach of the 2024 Baseball for All 16U National Champion New York Wonders girls travel baseball team. Peter graduated from Franklin & Marshall College and lives in Queens.
