Hilltop Public Solutions is seeking a qualified applicant to serve as an Associate in our Washington, DC office, working with Partners on both public affairs and political campaigns.

About Hilltop

Hilltop Public Solutions is a Democratic political consulting and public affairs firm. We are based in Washington, DC, but have offices around the country. Our team here in DC works on state, federal, and local issues: from Mayoral elections in cities like Philadelphia, to national issue advocacy campaigns based out of Washington, to grasstops and grassroots projects in all fifty states.

We take an all-hands-on-deck approach to campaigns, and our partners, principals and associates have the opportunity to work on a wide range of issues impacting the country. From helping run a multi-million dollar coalition in support of the Affordable Care Act in 2010 to serving as part of the team who elected Bill de Blasio Mayor of New York City, Hilltop has been involved in key races and decisions since we first opened our doors in 2006.

  • Work with Hilltop partners to manage and coordinate grassroots and grasstops issue advocacy campaigns in states and districts around the country.
  • Conduct background research on new clients, issues, and topics for new business development.
  • Assist with drafting pitches and proposals.

  • Help manage national issue advocacy coalitions, including email and schedule management.
  • Recruit, train, manage and retain intern analysts to assist with background research and current projects.

Duties Include:

  • Sending daily press clips for top Hilltop campaigns and clients;
  • Collecting data and conducting research on upcoming political elections around the country;
  • Fact checking political ads;
  • Writing emails and other communications to members of coalitions that Hilltop manages;
  • Working with outside lobbyists to coordinate Hill meetings, fly-ins, and coalition meetings;
  • Drafting sample letters, op-eds, letters to the editor, and social media posts for issue advocacy campaigns;
  • Vetting potential donors to political campaigns for conflicts of interest;
  • Coordinating client reports on grasstops campaigns.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Attention to detail and adaptability
  • Ability to work under a deadline
  • Demonstrated interest in political and policy work
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Degree from an accredited four-year college or university

  • Degree in political science, communications, American history or comparable subject matter

How to Apply

If you are interested in applying to work as an associate in our DC office, please email your resume and cover letter to our HR Director at hr@hilltoppublicsolutions.com with the office and position in the subject line. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until December 1, 2017. The position is full-time, with a benefits package and salary commensurate with experience.

Studies have shown that women and people of color are less likely to apply for jobs unless they meet every one of the qualifications listed. We are most interested in finding the best candidate for the job, and that candidate may be one who comes from a less traditional background. If you have strong written communication skills, a passion for political and policy work, and a willingness to learn, we would encourage you to apply, even if you don’t meet every one of our qualifications listed.
