With well over a decade of experience in digital strategy and community relations, Will is responsible for supporting sustainable and robust communities that champion progressive causes and values. A leader in social media advocacy since before Myspace, Will brings particular skill in social strategy and digital production, specializing in converting online engagement into real, measurable action.
Originally from Salisbury, Maryland, Will moved to Portland in 2007 and has since provided guidance and expertise to the area’s arts & culture nonprofits and community-based organizations, helping them build effective collaborations with their audience and stakeholders.
Before joining Hilltop, Will served as a digital consultant on Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler’s 2016 election campaign and later as the Mayor’s Senior Digital Strategist in City Hall, working with city agencies to ensure their social media policies are transparent, robust, and accountable.
Will has a strong record of leading creative and technical teams across disciplines and in a variety of project settings. He has provided training and instruction to a wide range of clients — from the authors of “Facebook Marketing All-In-One for Dummies” to global start-ups like eFounders’ Solved.io project — on effective methods to extend their media reach and grow their audiences.
An active member of the Portland community, Will has served on a number of non-profit boards and is a graduate of the Portland Regional Arts & Culture Council (RACC) Art of Leadership program. He has been recognized as a National Anti-Bullying Champion and National Cyber Security Champion for his continuous commitment to keeping the online world a safe and secure place for all. Will lives in Southeast Portland with his wife and their dog.
